Motivational tool at work #1: apprenticeship

So the first motivation factor at work is the feeling of learning, developing, knowing and understanding new skills and new postures. You can measure that by your ability to tell yourself: every week, every month, every year, what did I learn? How did I develop myself? Do I feel like I've grown up?

Motivational lever at work #2: the feeling of being useful

Behind the feeling of being useful, there are two notions. First, there is the feeling that what you are doing is bringing real value and a real contribution to the organization in which you work. Second, there is the concept of meaning. You consider what you are doing to make sense. You understand what you are doing, the why of what is required of you in your project, in your job.

Motivational lever at work #3: the feeling of belonging

It's about your pride in belonging to a team, to a country, to a brand, to an organization, to a company. This lever is not necessarily present for each of us, but for some, it is fundamental to belong to that Team at this group.

Motivational lever #4: the feeling of recognition

This lever can be different for each of us. Some need to be recognized for the goals they achieve. Others need to be recognized for the skills they excel at. Others need to be recognized simply for who they are. It's up to you.

Motivational lever #5: the quality of your relationships

Motivational driver number five, the quality of relationships you have with the people you work with. How confident you feel in their presence. For example, having the opportunity to be who you are and to say what you want safely.

Motivational lever #6: passion

And finally, a lever that also appears very often, passion. The passion for your job, the passion for the object you are working on, the passion for the country in which you are. It is an ingredient that will mix with the other five motivational levers. But ask yourself: what is your level of passion for the job you have learned, developed or the one you are doing today. In summary, each of us among these six motivational levers identified that two or three of them were particularly important. For example, for me, learning and being useful is fundamental and has been the lifeblood of my career. For some of you, it will be feeling like you are in an environment where personal relationships are of good quality, and belonging to a team. Go back to the six levers I just told you about and tell yourself which two or three are the two or three that you absolutely cannot do without. For each of us, there are some that we can do without, others that we absolutely cannot do without. The question you need to ask yourself is: “Am I fed on these motivational levers in my job today? What can I do to feed them again? How can I show my team, my boss what is important to me? ” Because the more they know what motivates me, the more likely they are to respond! Our next coaching minute will be devoted to the levers of demotivation that are not simply the opposite of the levers of motivation. For example, money is not a motivator, it is a demotivating factor. We'll see that next time. See you very soon !
